Lossless Audio Transcodes

Tuneform automatically converts your lossless audio files to MP3 files at various bitrates. This process is performed automatically when you upload a lossless audio file to your account, either when creating a visualizer or video, or when uploading the audio file directly through "My Media -> My Audio" in your Tuneform account.

When a lossless audio file is uploaded to your account, your file will be converted into several MP3 files at different bitrates:

  • 320 kbps
  • 256 kbps
  • 128 kbps

Once the files are ready, you'll see them available under your audio's information page in the "My Audio" section of your account. You'll then be able to download the transcoded audio file's at your convenience.

While the bitrate and file type will change, we keep the same sample rate and channel layout from your lossless source file.

Additionally, the compressed bitrate variants are all created from your lossless source file. In other words, the 128 kbps transcoded mp3 file is created directly from the lossless audio file, and not the 256kbps or 320kbps variants. This ensures that each of the transcoded variants are the highest possible quality for their given bitrate.

Note that if you upload an audio file that is already in a lossy format (such as mp3 or m4a) there won't be any transcodes available. The lossless to lossy transcode feature is only available for lossless audio source files.

Additionally, this feature is not available for users on the free tier, and is only accessible for users subscribed to a premium plan. If you upgraded to a premium plan and don't see your transcoded files, refresh the page after you upgrade, and the download links for the MP3 variants will appear.

Be aware that deleting the source audio file will also delete any transcodes that have been created from that audio file.

If you experience an error downloading your file, refresh the page and try again. The download links linked to a login session have expirations for security purposes, and refreshing your session will give you new, valid links.
